Sunshine on Leith
Sunshine on Leith is based on the sensational stage of the same name featuring music by the pop-folk band The Proclaimers. The film follows the stories of Davy and Ally, who have to re-learn how to live in Edinburgh after coming home after serving in Afghanistan. Both struggle to learn to live a life outside the army and to deal with the everyday struggles of family, jobs and relationships.

Whisky Galore (The Remake)
Whisky Galore! is a 2016 British film, a remake of the 1949 Ealing Comedy of the same name, itself based on the novel of the same name by Compton Mackenzie. It was directed by Gillies MacKinnon and stars Gregor Fisher, Eddie Izzard, Sean Biggerstaff and Naomi Battrick. The film premiered at the 2016 Edinburgh Film Festival. The US west coast premiere was presented by the St Andrew's Society of Los Angeles at the Director's Guild Theatre Beverly Hills, with producer and Executive producer in attendance, bagpipes, highland dancers and cocktails and hors d'oeuvres.
The principal film location was Portsoy, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

The final film of the 2026 Tartan Film Festival will be Wednesday November 4th
